Cold Temps and Clearcoat

Painting in cold temperatures is not fun, but we have proven over the last 35 years it is definitely possible. You just have to remember that you need to warm your panel up prior to applying primer and keep it warm through paint and clearcoat. Some of you may think it is okay to just put a heat lamp on it after you are finished clearing. That will almost guarantee solvent pop. The solvent in your primer and paint will be taking its time coming out until you apply heat, then it is going to be trying to escape quickly through your clearcoat. Another big reason to keep your panel warm is the crosslinking process starts and stops at or around 58 degrees Fahrenheit. If your panel is cooler than that, it is going to take much longer for your clear to cure.
The more you know …….
Happy Painting !!!

Thanks for the info.
